Comments on TTC for 9 mouths! what are some fertility test my Doctor can give my husband and I?
I don’t know what kind of tests there are at the doctors however I do think that if you and your husband go to the doctor and ask for one they’ll do it. Plus for women, there are First Response Fertility Tests, I don’t know where they sell them though (I’ve never seen them at walmart or krogers)
But go to your doctors and ask for a test they will do it. Lots of luck to you!
If you are under 30, a doctor might not even consider doing any tests until you have been trying for over a year (unless you have irregular cycles- painful, heavy, long… suspected anovulatory cycles, pain during sex, etc). However old you are, you will likely get an ultrasound, a pelvic exam, and a pap test. If you are over 30, they will probably check your LH and FSH levels on day 3 of your cycle, progesterone around day 21 (to check if you are ovulating), prolactin, estrogen… If you are under 30, they will probably run all of these tests as well, depending on your symptoms. There are also many other tests such as HSG that they might run if you are having any symptoms of infertility. Make sure to let them know of any problems you suspect, be completely honest about your medical history, including stomach problems, headaches, cramps, etc. Hope this helps.
Here are some of the test you can have:
Pelvic Ultrasound Examination
With the use of the ultrasound technology, your doctor will check your pelvic organs if they have any abnormalities like cysts and many other.
Endometrial Biopsy
In this procedure, your doctor might need a sample of your uterine lining called endometrium to check if there is enough amount of progesterone in your system and if ovulation really happens in your body. Common side effects of this test: cramps, discomfort and slight spotting.
Blood Testing
This procedure requires blood sample take from your body. Then it will be send to be evaluated in the laboratory. The levels of your follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone hormone, extradiol hormone and prolactin hormone will be exmined to verify for any disorders in your eggs, ovulation, thyroid and other reproductive organs. Your blood sample will also be evaluated if there is occurrence of communicable diseases like human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis, syphilis and rubella (German measles) antibody and any immune disorders.
