That is not usually allowed. It’s the nurse’s job to help with these matters…

Different clinics have different rules. During the course of our fertility struggles, my husband had to give samples in 3 different labs or clinics. In one case I was not allowed in the room, in one case I was not able to be in the room because I was undergoing my own procedure (for IVF), and in one case I was allowed to be in the room with him but not allowed to handle the cup or perform oral sex on him.

During our testing, they gave us a cup to take home and use in private — we just had to bring it to the lab within, IIRC, 2 hours.

why dont you do it at home for him and take it to the hospital…i didnt like thought my fella doing it alone either or looking at the hosp porn, he isnt really in to that kind thing either,,,lol

I was always allowed in to “help” with the sample but with some restrictions: absolutely NO oral sex, and no vaginal sex. Manual stimulation only.

There were always lots of magazines and one place played an endless loop of porn videos (they were really cheesy, though, we mostly just laughed at them!)

depends. by us it was pretty weird, jewish law forbids masturbating, so you get a special condom (without spermicide) that you prick a hole in (i never get why they can’t just put in the hole in the first place) and then the couple has sex, the sperm ends up mostly in the condom, some comes out through the hole (condoms are also forbidden) and then you put the condom in a cup and run to the hospital.

It may depend on the clinic’s policies. However, when my husband did his semen analysis, I did NOT go in the room with him. I stayed in the waiting room. Some clinics allow patients to collect the sample at home as long as they can get it to the lab within an hour.
