How do I know if I was given a blood pregnancy test?
I went to the gynecologist, and routinely, I gave a urine sample, but they also gave me a finger-prick before the actual procedure. Was this a blood test for pregnancy or not?
Thanks so much

They drew a vile of my blood.
I’m not sure. I’ve always assumed blood tests were taken through your veins in your arm, and not a finger prick. I’d be pissed off if I had to get a finger prick, that makes me pass out even more quickly than getting blood drawn from your veins. OBGYN’s have different procedures though, perhaps call and ask what it was about?
no.. prick was to test for anemia more than likely
No, the blood test was not for pregnancy, They draw a whole tube for that. Maybe there were checking your glucose level?
Very few lab tests can be done through the finger prick method, and a pregnancy test is not one of them. They would need to draw much more blood than they would get through a finger prick. Chances are if they ran a pregnancy test on you it was through your urine, not your blood.
a vile of blood is required for a pregnancy test. urine is for the pregnancy test.
The finger prick was probably to make sure your iron was good. They usually test your blood by taking a vile of blood and sending it to the lab. If you gave a urine sample they probably tested that for many things they probably also did a pregnancy test with your urine.
most of the time that finger prick is to check your Iron, pregnancy tests are usually taken from your arm, but i would ask.
no that was an iron test.
They will take a vile of blood for a pregnancy test. A finger-prick will not be enough. If you would like a blood test just request one from your doctor. You might be able to just go directly to a lab and get the results that day without even having a full appointment.
