Has anyone out there had a negative urine or blood pregnancy test? But was pregnant?

4

My son was born ten years ago and i did not have a positive urine test for 13 and a half weeks. I did not know I was pregnant at all and continued to have bleeding until i was 22 weeks pregnant. This bleeding continued the same time I was expecting my periods. I am 13 days overdue with my period and have had neg urine and blood test. I am having symptoms of bloating, feeling nausea etc and my mucus has changed to like when I was pregnant. I feel like I am going mad. My cycle for the past three years has always been either 26 or 27 days. Should I ask my doctor for an ultrasound or could this be a phantom pregnancy?
Any advice or reason would be appreciated.

You probably run with some very low hormone levels, which have to be picked up on a test to show positive. If you feel you’re pregnant, start living as though you are- no more bad habits like smoking or drinking, sushi, etc. Make an appointment with your doctor and explain the situation you had with your son. DEMAND that you get the ultrasound if you’re sure you need it. Some doctors like to blow you off like you don’t know what you’re talking about, so if that happens, be persistent either with that doctor, or find another one who will respect your wishes. Good luck.

You sound like you did have difficult pregnancy. However, each pregnancy is different. Best is to seek advice from your doctor. Things could be more serious than being pregnant. Take care!

I agree with “chamely_3″…no more bad habits, if you have any. I would errr on the side of caution until you know for sure, and with your history, it seems like it might be the real thing. I had an auntie who had a “regular” period for the first 5 months of her pregnancies. SHe didn’t know until she started getting the “quickening” (little kicks from inside) Either way, good luck

It is entirely possible to have negative tests. I would wait another 2-3 weeks and retest or have your doctor retest as the hormone levels may not be high enough to show on an at-home test. You may just not develop high levels of the hormones necessary to trigger the tests. It has happened to me before.
