Can you get a false NEGATIVE in a pregnancy blood test?
My sons EX girlfriend is trying desperately to hold on to him.. She keeps saying she thinks she's pregnant. She says she's taken a few home preg. tests, which all say negative, but NOW she's saying the dr.s have done a blood test, and even tho it came back negative, "they" think she still might be pregnant. IS IT possible to have a FALSE NEGATIVE result when doing a pregnancy blood test?

i dont really know, but I would think that the Dr’s test would be 99.9% accurate, lets face it they never give you 100%

i think a blood test is more definate than a urine test, id say she wasnt pregnant.
If its very early it is…if she is even close to being to her period, it would show up by then. Give her 1 week, and ask her to produce a positive test, if she can’t, she’s lying.

Chances are is that she isn’t pregnant, but I have heard of this (though it was over 20 years ago that it happened.) My boss was told several times that she was miscarrying and that she wasn’t pregnant and it wasn’t until she was like 16 wks that she finally had a + result. However, it sounds like this girl is more of a stalker than anything – I think we are all hoping for your son’s sake that she is truly NOT pregnant. It sounds like this girl isn’t ready to be a mother anyway.
No, sorry, unfortunately she is NOT pregnant. It is not likely to get a false negative from a HPT, but it does happen. The blood test is a more definite answer and it is either postive or negative, the hormones levels are there or they aren’t! And if the doctor still suspected she was pregnant, they would have scheduled her for blood work over the next several days to see if her HCG levels changed, AND they would have given her a prescription for prenatal vitamins.
it is clear that she wants something that not so right now. if the doctor is telling her that the blood test is saying no as well as her home test then no she is not pregnant. it’s just her mind playing tricks on her. or shall i say that it’s something that she wants so bad that her body and mind may think she is when in reality she’s not. hope this helps
