When do you have to stop sleeping on your stomach when pregnant?

14

I have always slept on my stomach. I am now nearly 11 weeks pregnant and I know you're supposed to sleep on your side but I go to sleep on my side but always wake up on my stomach. It feels funny when lie on my stomach so I try to avoid it but is is hurting the baby this early?

Does anyone know how to stop yourself rolling onto your stomach when asleep?

I’m not sure when to stop, but to stop from rolling on your stomach, lay on one side and put pillows on both sides and you won’t roll on your stomach.

You really can’t stop yourself while your sleeping. You can try to put 2 body pillows on either side of you. Also whenever you wake up and realize your on your belly just turn over. Your baby is very well protected it won’t be hurt by it. By the end of your pregnancy you’ll be trying to find any way possible to sleep that’s comfortable. Good luck!!

when you start showing you should stop sleeping on your stomach.try sleeping with a pillow by your side to help you remember not to sleep on your stomach.

My doctor said as long as you are comfortable sleep in whichever position you like.. unless of course your bleeding having trouble breathing..then you lye on your left side…

by the way i thing big belly enough will stop you from rolling over.

When it becomes uncomfortable for you. It happened for me right around 15 weeks. It’s actually safer to lay on your stomach than your back, believe it or not. There is plenty of cushion in between the bed and your baby. Believe me, when it’s time to quit sleeping on your stomach, you wont want to anymore! It’s pretty uncomfortable once you hit a certain point! This itself will keep you from rolling onto it. Other than that you can put a pillow or 2 under your belly. This will provide support once you start getting bigger and has always worked for me to keep me from rolling onto my belly.

Good luck and congrats!

There is no set date. When it becomes uncomfortable you will just begin to sleep more on your side. I found using a pillow between my knees and a pillow under my stomach helpful. I don’t think there is any chance you will hurt the baby by sleeping on you stomach.

Well, you could purchase a body pillow at Wal-Mart. And as far as when to stop sleeping on your stomach…I suppose when it begins to feel uncomfortable. Your little baby is probably about an inch, but he/she is snuggled up in the uterus with the amniotic fluid floating around.

I’m 21 weeks pregnant with my 4th child and am still sleeping on Tummy. There is no guidline, but if it feels uncomfortable or hurts then stop.
I always sleep on my tummy & find it difficult to sleep if i don’t. With my last pregnancy i found a way to sleep half on tummy half on side by putting a fat pillow over my hips & partially over 1 thigh, then rolling onto tummy, but still partially on your side, it was really comfy!

Good luck with it all

P.s. the pillow helps with not rolling all the way over too.

I would get a body pillow. They really are great especially in later pregnancy. Soon you will be too big to roll onto your stomach. If you still can roll onto your stomach, you aren’t going to hurt the baby or anything. The big thing is after a certain point you aren’t supposed to lie flat on your back. It can compress blood supply to your uterus. Now when you get big, it is hard not to find yourself that way! That’s why the body pillow is great. I got a huge one that was completely horse shoe shaped and I had it to support my back and my belly and between my knees.

Basically you should stop yourself when you start to feel uncomfortable. I was a stomach sleeper before I got pregnant. And it was the hardest habit to break. The lack of comfort will come long before you can do any damage to the baby. Plus, the baby is surrounded by fluid. So, you don’t have too much to worry about.
When I was pregnant and my belly started getting bigger and bigger I could use a pillow to kind of balance myself so I wasn’t completely laying on my stomach but, I was still comfortable. After about 20 weeks or so, the doc recommends you sleep on your left side. Definitely not on your back. Your body will tell you when you need to switch positions.

That’s a question in every pregnant mother’s mind. I have 2 kids, have always (before) slept on my stomach, but you get used to sleeping on your side later on. Your so tired your grateful you are able to sleep at all! Right now your baby is still protected by your pelvic cavity, so don’t worry you wont hurt him! By the fifth month the uterus will reach you belly button and you will NOT be able to slept on your stomach! If you find your self in that position, simply turn to your side! SLEEP GIRL NOW, because later it won’t be that easy TRUST Me been there twice and going on third!
