Dog is 58 days pregnant and showing signs of labor?
I have done a bunch of research on a dogs pregnancy yet i am still a bit confused. My dog is 58 days pregnant today, her temp dropped to 98.4 last nite and has remained like that. She is panting, digging, and in her whelp box alot. She is also peeing more than usual. I know these are signs that she is in labor but the vet told me she still has about 4 more days to go??? Is that right? I thought once the temp drops you have 12-24 hrs until hard labor?
Well she had her pups today. All 9 are alive and healthy, they will go to the vet tomorrow thanks for all the responses

58-65 days is the norm – you don’t want them to go past 65 days.

some dogs give birth early around 58 days also a lot of dogs temp drops a few days before labor not just 24 hours
you might have puppies coming tonight good luck make sure you have the e vets number just in case
Usually labor happens at 62-63 days, but she is just going into a few days early (or maybe she is at 62-63 days, and her insemination took place earlier than you thought).
With my dog her temp dropped at least 4 days before she had the pups. She didn’t start panting until she was actually in labor, though. Watch her closely! We didn’t think she was in labor, (she was panting all night long) and she was. she had them yesterday morning and they are so cute! It sounds like she’s really close to having them so it could happen anytime. Make sure she sees the puppies when they come out, mine didn’t even know when the first one came out.

just like with people, some times they come early. just be ready at any time right now to help out if needed. also, make sure you have the vet’s number handy in case you need to call and be walked thru anything
It is ok for her to have the pups now.
with the panting digging and temp drop sounds like you will have those pups today.

take her to the vet! Puppies are NOT supposed to be born that soon! 62-64 days is normal!
