Can You Get Pregnant While Menstruating? How It Can Happen

0

There are many women who still do not know whether it is possible to get pregnant while menstruating.  This question is quite common and you need to look at it in two different ways.  The first issue presented here is whether you can conceive when you have sex during menstruation and the other is whether you can bleed and then discover that you are pregnant.  The answer to the above concerns is yes and this article explores how all this is possible.  To escape all the challenges that may come, it is important to keep in mind that you can conceive any time of the month and this information will empower women for better planning.

When you have unprotected sex during your monthly periods, you can get pregnant and this is how.  Conception will occur at the fallopian tubes but can also occur along the uterus where the egg can meet the sperm.  The egg makes its way out of the uterus to the vagina as menstruation kicks in but, if it is fertilized in the uterus, pregnancy will occur.  As menstruation occurs, the egg might propel towards the uterus and when there is sperm, fertilization and pregnancy will occur.

When the egg is fertilized, it will work towards implantation which will be made possible by the lining of the uterus.  To make implantation possible, chemicals will be produced in the body to prepare for the gestation of the pregnancy.  At this time, bleeding can occur indicating that all is well and many women think that they are having their monthly period.  This bleeding is not an indication that you are not pregnant and the best thing to do in this case is to go for a test that will confirm whether or not you are.  Ovulation in itself can spark some bleeding and this will not mean that pregnancy is not possible as long as sperm is or has been present.

Therefore, if one has unprotected sex during their period then pregnancy is possible. To avoid unwanted pregnancies, it will be wise to use protection even when menstruating.  With unprotected sex, it is not just pregnancy that you have to worry about because you need to also consider diseases that are transmitted sexually that need to be kept at bay.  Take note that sperm is able to live and survive in the female body for up to 3 days and sometimes more.  This is to say that the ova can get fertilized easily before it leaves the body.
